Both venues combined we are able to accommodate a maximum of 200 guests.
Most people choose to have their wedding ceremony and reception on site using The George Ballroom and having a cocktail hour hosted in The Madcap Louge while we change over the room. There are no extra ceremony or room flip fees.
Tables, chairs, furniture and existing décor are included with your rental. The caterer provides china, crystal cut glassware and flatware. Linens are not included but can be provided through our caterer.
Yes, we offer a variety of 66” round banquet tables, 8 ft” tables and 6 ft” tables with Chiavari chair along with marble top cocktail tables to create the desired layout for your event.
Due to local noise ordinances, wedding receptions and other parties held at The George must end by Midnight at the latest.
Yes, we can accommodate live bands as well as DJs for wedding ceremonies, receptions and dances.
Events at The George and Madcap Lounge are exclusively catered by Shully’s Cuisine and Events. They provide all food and beverages, including alcohol, but you can bring in your own wedding cake or other dessert as well as late-night food from an outside vendor.
Beyond Shully’s, there are no other required vendors. We do, however, have a preferred vendor list of other businesses that we love working with if you are looking for suggestions.
No, Wisconsin liquor laws prohibit outside alcohol and carry-ins. All alcohol must be purchased through our caterer, Shully’s. We will do our best to accommodate requests and are happy to explore options for specialty items based on availability and pricing.
Yes, The George and Madcap Lounge was made ADA compliant during the renovation. We have a wheelchair ramp and an elevator available for guests to use.
Real candles are allowed but flames must be enclosed in a container that extends at least two inches past the flame. Naked taper candles and bare tea lights are prohibited. Candles may be placed on the floor for wedding ceremonies, but they cannot be placed in walkways, and they cannot be enclosed with water (i.e. no floating candles).
No, The George is a smoke free venue. No smoking or vaping is allowed inside any of our spaces.
The George is located at 429 W National Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53204, just a few blocks from I-43.
From the south, I-43 N take exit 311 toward WI-59 / National Ave. Turn right onto S 9th St take the next right on W National Ave. The Geoge will be on your right.
From the north, I-43 S take exit 311 for 6th St toward WI-59 / National Ave. At the bottom of the ramp, turn left onto S 6th St and then take the second right onto W National Ave. The George will be on your right.
Please note: Milwaukee is set to begin a street and sidewalk reconstruction in the area next year which may change the route to get here. We will keep you posted on road closures and detours as they happen.
Metered and non-metered street parking is available on the roads surrounding The George and there are a few paid public service lots within about a five-minute walk.
